Two Toner Recycling Incentives
Many people might dismiss toner recycling as some environmentalist waste of time or as a simple nuisance they can’t be troubled with, but that might change once they learn that there are a number of tangible benefits to recycling those old toner cartridges that anybody can take advantage of. While it is extremely important that we all do our part to reduce the amount of waste created by the digital age, particularly in the case of cartridges that can take a thousand years to decompose, there are also plenty of benefits to reusing and recycling this electronic debris.
The first, perhaps most persuadable benefit of toner recycling is reduced retail costs for cartridges. Anyone who has had to order new toner cartridges knows how inordinately expensive they are, but many people are not aware that the majority of that cost is actually the cartridge itself and not the toner. By refurbishing old cartridges we can reduce the overall costs of buying toner cartridges by as much as 50%, an incredible discount by any standards. This also forces brand name distributors to reduce their prices to compete with the remanufactured cartridges, making all toner cartridges more affordable to the average consumer. In essence, recycling your toner cartridges is a form of consumer activism.
Secondly, you can make money by recycling the cartridges. Yes, that’s right, there is profit to be made in the business if you collect enough cartridges. Many original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and third party refurbishers will pay you a small fee for each cartridge that you turn in, provided that you only drop off bulk orders. Many nonprofits are now using this as an unconventional fundraising drive, and you, too, can take advantage of the situation.
In the end recycling your old toner cartridges (and others’ cartridges) not only saves you and everyone else money, but can also net you a tidy profit if you work for it.
