Forget Canon Ink, Go Compatible!

It seems like these days the prices for cartridges of brand name products like Canon ink have risen to cost nearly as much as the printers themselves, leading to a growing trend of people literally throwing out their old printers once the initial ink cartridge runs dry and simply buying a new one rather than a new cartridge. As ridiculous as that might sound this happens every day of the week as people try to adjust to the rising prices of printing consumables while operating on tightened budgets due to poor economic times. However, as you might suspect buying a new printer each time the ink runs dry is a less than efficient method of saving money—there are other, cheaper ways to save money on ink!

One of the best ways to save money on buying your printing supplies is to simply stop buying Canon ink or ink and toner from any other major brand, either! The brand name companies have a tendency to only partially fill their ink cartridges, and have become well known for rigging the printers to warn you to replace those cartridges long before they run dry. These are just a couple of the small things they do to encourage you to consume more ink than you need to, creating greater waste and costing you extra money in the process. However you can bypass many of these issues and save money by purchasing third party “compatible” ink cartridges instead.

Despite what you might hear from the original equipment manufacturers (OEM—the brand names), buying compatible ink cartridges will not damage your printer and normally does not result in reduced printing quality. These warnings are simply scare tactics. What they do result in, however, is a comparable (or better) print job for far less than the cost of the OEM product.
