Cleaning Up Xerox 6280 Toner
As far as printers go, the Xerox 6280 toner cartridge printer is an excellent example of a standard color laser printer for small office use. This Phaser model boasts a first page time of about 10 seconds, and is capable of holding several hundred pages in order to facilitate the bulk printing required in many office environments. Changing out the toner cartridges in the Phaser printer is also fairly easy, yet like all laser printers it is still possible to make a costly mistake and spill troublesome toner all over the place. Anyone who has ever experienced a toner spill knows fully well exactly how difficult it can be to clean up the mess without damaging both the printer and your business suit. Here are a few tips to ensure a quick and painless cleanup in case your Xerox 6280 toner happens to spill:
First of all, it is important to remember that toner is essentially a wax-like substance that melds to surfaces when the slightest amount of heat is applied. This fact cannot be stressed enough. Never, under any circumstances, use warm water to remove the toner from your clothing or other surfaces as this can melt the toner and make it a permanent fixture rather than clean it up! However if you use cold water to clean up your Xerox toner the process should go smoothly.
When it comes to cleaning the toner off of the floor or other surfaces make sure to only wipe it off with a cold damp cloth or use an ESD-safe (electrostatic discharge safe) vacuum. This is because toner has electrostatic properties that can cause it to ignite when rubbed against other particles, such as when sucked up by a household vacuum cleaner. In general a shop vacuum with an electrically conductive hose and high efficiency (HEPA) filter should do the trick.
Remember these simple steps and your cleanup will go much more smoothly. Be careful, never apply heat, and try not to burn the house down!
