The Community Open
Space Partnership (COSP) is a
Wisconsin-based network of agencies,
institutions, and organizations dedicated to
improving ecological, social, and economic
health through strategic design & maintenance of
the “un-built” environment.
COSP was launched in the
fall of 2001 because of a commonly-held
understanding that groups working for
sustainability in urban and growing environments
can accomplish several objectives better or more
effectively in partnership than any could do
alone: advocacy, public education, and coalition
development.
Working together, COSP
will create:
-
Working principles
that form the core values of COSP, and provide
a set of guidelines for meeting our
responsibility to protect and nurture the
special places that constitute green
infrastructure.
-
Wisconsin’s GIFT
Plan, a vision for green infrastructure in
urban and growing communities and a road map
for green infrastructure action in Wisconsin.
-
Legislation
that provides the necessary support to enable
partners to achieve green infrastructure goals
-
Support tools
that help partners articulate and implement
green infrastructure in their communities
As a partner of the Community
Open Space Partnership, your
organizations/agency/company will have opportunities
to build power and gain leverage both for
itself and for the green infrastructure
movement. As a partner you can:
- Be a part of a
professional community with a clear vision and
common values
- Marshall your
organizational and community resources to
achieve shared goals
- Bring COSP
resources (people, skills, funding) to your
community
- Include your
message as part of a unified voice of advocacy
- Claim COSP
successes as your own
