Will Allen

"Food keeps us going. Growing food keeps us connected."

Over a span of twenty years, Will Allen has shown Milwaukee what neighborhood self -sufficiency can mean by his commitment to community food systems. Through Will's efforts, communities in Central City Milwaukee have access to affordable fresh produce, and youth have access to Learn to Earn: Growing Power Youth Corps, a program that offers them academic and professional experience in the greening industry.

Will Allen is a farmer, growing food on his 10-acre farm. Will Allen is marketer and distributor, skills gained from running Will's Roadside Market in Central City Milwaukee. As Co-Director of Growing Power, a not-for-profit land trust, he takes on the role of educator, teaching people the value of fresh food, of growing food with your neighbors, of building community at the same time.
